Laser Dentistry and Periodontal Therapy

With the dental laser you don't have to worry about pain or fear, because the dental laser allows us to treat you without cutting or sewing your gums. It's revolutionary. If you're like 100 million Americans, you could be one of 50 percent who have periodontal disease, the major cause of tooth loss in adults. Periodontal disease starts off as plaque, an opaque film, which eventually hardens, forming tartar or calculus. In the early stages, this is called gingivitis, characterized by red, swollen gums that bleed when you brush your teeth. Unchecked, gingivitis progresses to periodontitis, a much more serious form of the disease where periodontal pockets form, separating teeth from the gums and the supporting bone structure.

The way to repair the damage is to get rid of the infection and close up the pockets. Before the dental laser, that meant surgery and sutures. But Dr. Greenberg offers laser periodontal therapy, a patient-friendly, minimally invasive procedure that's a great improvement over standard gum surgery. He is only one of 40 dentists in the nation currently providing this exciting procedure. For you the patient, it means you couldn't be in more competent hands.

Exxcl Oral Blue

Exxcl Oral Blue is an oral irrigant used to treat xerostomia (dry mouth), gum disease, bad breath and sensitive teeth by gently moisturizing, lubricating and conditioning oral tissues. Exxcl Oral Blue is an effective agent in stopping your oral infection, controlling the symptoms of xerostomia, and alleviating the oral diseases resulting from this annoying condition.

Irrigation allows your oral tissues to heal. As the infectious bacteria are reduced, dental plaque becomes less damaging to the teeth and soft tissues. Dental decay is reduced and serious gum disease avoided or controlled in a more successful way.

DIAGNOdent

One of the most important things we do for our patients is to identify and fill cavities. Since even the smallest spot of decay can threaten the integrity of the entire tooth, finding and filling cavities is the key to preventing further problems of all kinds. Cavities often hide along fissure lines, or inside biting or occlusal surfaces. Further, these mechanical exploratory methods are limited to finding only those cavities equal to or larger than the probe head. For all these reasons, we've invested in DIAGNOdent: a revolutionary new, thorough means of detecting cavities, so your exam can be fast, easy and nearly imperceptible.

Using DIAGNOdent technology allows us to catch more areas of decay sooner and with more precision. Further, it requires no x-rays, and is a relatively comfortable procedure. Not only can it help prevent the spread of decay, but catching decay early means fillings required are simpler and shallower, preserving more of the tooth. This allows us to use minimally invasive filling procedures, such as drill-free air abrasion. Finally, we're able to objectively monitor any suspicious areas without repeated x-rays, harm to tissues, or need for protective measures.

Digital Imaging

When you decide to correct or enhance your smile, it's often difficult to determine ahead of time exactly what kind of results to expect. After all, a smile is a pretty personal thing. And changing a smile is a pretty sensitive business. That's where cosmetic digital imaging comes into play. This computer-based digital technology allows your dentist to create true-to-life photographs of your very own mouth, as if the recommended procedures had already been completed. So whether you're considering teeth whitening, straightening, bonding, veneers, or full smile re-contouring, digital imaging technology lets you envision the possibilities of how your new smile can look and function.

Digital Radiography

Dr. Greenberg believes that it is important patients are protected from any possible harmful effects from radiation. That is why he uses digital radiography, which decreases radiation by more than 90 percent compared to conventional dental x-ray machines. At the January 2001 meeting of the Council on Scientific Affairs, the ADA accepted the DEXIS intra-oral digital X-ray system into the prestigious ADA Product Acceptance Program. DEXIS is the first system to attain this recognition.

Preventive Services

Early detection is the key to avoiding costly and painful dental treatment. Prevention begins with the control of plaque and calculus, the main cause of decay and periodontal disease. In fact, the major cause of tooth loss in adults is periodontal disease, which is known as the silent killer of teeth because most patients feel no symptoms until it's too late. With regular dental visits, we can treat gum disease at an early stage, before it gets out of hand.

NTI-tss

As Seen on ABC's GOOD MORNING AMERICA. The first clinically proven, nondrug method for the prevention of migraine. The NTI-tss is a small, virtually invisible mouthpiece that covers only your upper front teeth while you sleep. The NTI-tss must be custom-fitted by a dentist—which usually takes only one 30-minute visit. In a clinical trial, 82% of migraine sufferers who used the NTI-tss for 8 weeks had a 77% average reduction in migraine attacks. The NTI-tss device reduced not only migraine attacks but also the need for medication usually taken to treat migraine pain.

Implants

When people lose permanent teeth due to accident, injury, disease or extraction, dental implants can be a secure, functional replacement option. They're superior to many other choices because they actually restore comfort and appearance, yet remain functional for the long run. What's more, they do not rely on neighboring teeth for support, thus maintaining the integrity of your overall dental structures. Since they are permanently, surgically anchored in the jawbone, implants' stability and permanence restore your ability to speak and eat normally, supply support to facial musculature, and eliminate the inconveniences and discomforts of ill-fitting prostheses. And after nearly 35 years of use, they have a 90-95% proven success rate in appropriately chosen cases.

Dentures

Whether you have lost all our your natural teeth from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, a complete set of dentures can replace your missing teeth and grin. Your overall appearance and health will benefit dramatically by replacing your missing teeth. Without a full set of natural teeth or dentures, facial muscles sag, making you appear older. With dentures, you will be able to speak and eat normally, things people often take for granted until they lose their natural teeth.

Extreme Endodontics

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry primarily dealing with dental pulp and periradicular tissues. Dental pulp is the connective tissue containing blood vessels and nerve tissue, which occupies the pulp cavity of a tooth; also known as the root area. Endodontics deals with procedures such as root canals.

ZOOM! Whitening

The Zoom!T Whitening procedure is simple and painless. It begins with a short preparation to isolate your lips and gums. The Zoom!T clinician then applies the proprietary Zoom!T Whitening Gel, which is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter, sometimes more. A five minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure. You'll be amazed with the results. In most cases, teeth get even whiter the first few days after the procedure.

Oral CDx

Now, for the first time, dentists have a tool that allows them to easily and painlessly test for oral cancer.

The novel testing tool is called OralCDx, a system that combines a painless brush biopsy, which is taken by the dentist in the office, and advanced computer analysis. OralCDx allows dentists to test for early signs of oral cancer, which may have previously gone undiagnosed.
